Labor Day Weekend: Last call for summer

Labor Day weekend is the unofficial end of summer to many. But for those looking for a little more excitement than grilled hot dogs and citronella candles can provide, Atlanta offers plenty. Here’s a look at what’s in store.

****Top Choice*****

Beer & Whiskey Fest
While beer and whiskey are available at this fifth annual Labor Day weekend event, the ticket price gets you something else altogether. Each year, this festival brings together some of the most convincing tribute bands around for a day of nostalgia and inebriation. This year’s lineup includes ’80s hair metal tribute Thundersnake, Weezer tribute El Scorcho, Atlanta’s Behind the Sun, an homage to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Celebrating Queen, which, as the name implies, celebrates the music of Freddy Mercury and crew.
2 p.m.-11 p.m. Sunday. $10 in advance; $15 at the gate (proceeds benefit PAWS Atlanta); additional charge for food and beverages.
Park Tavern, 500 10th St. N.E. 404-249-0001, http://www.beerandwhiskeyfest.com/.
