Yelle - Safari Disco Club

It is my pleasure to let you know about the new Yelle album out now entitled Safari Disco Club. I have listened to it twice through already and I LOVE IT! It is a much welcomed departure from their first full length Pop-Up. I tend to enjoy sophomore releases by artists, and this one is no different. The songs are lush, and the production is great! I haven't picked out a favorite track yet, but Que Veux-Tu is close. I don't want to give too much away about this album, but I highly recommend you get it TODAY! (check out the video for Que Veux-Tu featuring FANNY PAK from ABDC!!!!)

Remembering Elizabeth Taylor

I remember one of my first days of school in the carpool line a teacher said, “Oh you look just like Elizabeth Taylor,” to me.  I was about 8 at the time and had not a clue who this Elizabeth women was.  I went home and told my family what had happened.  They laughed and my mother showed me a picture of Miss Taylor.  At this point in her life I guess she was about 6 marriages in, and a bit older, so I was shocked at the comparison that my teacher had made.  Yet my sister who was an old movie/theater junkie showed me “National Velvet” and my mind was forever blown.

Elizabeth Taylor began her acting career around the same age I was, when I learned of her.  Liz impressed audiences so much with her charm and talent, she went on to star in movies like, “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” and probably her most famous “Cleopatra” which she was paid 1 million dollars to complete in the year 1950.  Obviously Elizabeth Taylor had beauty and the gift of acting, as well as a heart for charity. She as a philanthropist and warrior supported the cause for finding a cure for aids up until her last breaths.  Miss Taylor has left a legacy behind and we celebrate her life, as we bid the Academy-Award winner farewell at the age of 79.

OMF(itness)G – Bikram Yoga

Ladies and gents, we all know the spring weather is FINALLY here. We all made new years resolutions to take better care of ourselves and get in shape. Its only 3 months into the year, and I almost let myself down with this resolution, until I found an amazing class that works the mind and body.

A good friend of mine introduced me to Bikram Yoga. I know, I I said the same thing, but I try new things just to say if I truely do like it or not. Bikram Yoga is the most invigorating exercise I've ever been involved with. The classroom is 105 degrees and within the first 5 min you are sweating from head to toe. It is a 90 minute class, and you are certainly asking your self WHY did I bring myself here, but once you've completed the class, your body has gone through a cleasning (I feel) with riding itself of all the impurities.

From the Bikram Yoga Decatur location:

What is Bikram Yoga?

Bikram’s Beginning Yoga Class is a series of 26 postures including two breathing exercises, which is suitable for anyone 16 years and older and at any level of ability. Each posture strengthens specific muscles, ligaments and joints at the same time it prepares the body for the next posture. The Bikram method also stimulates the organs, glands and nerves, moving fresh, oxygenated blood to 100 percent of the body, restoring all systems to a healthy working order.

There are plenty of locations throughout Atlanta. I suggest you try it once, and let me know the outcome!
Happy Sweating!

Gucci Mane - The Return Of Mr. Zone 6

Yah, dats right. This one hits the streets today!

Of course, nothing is getting more hype than Gucci's new tat... if you can't see the triple scooped ice cream cone with lightning bolts and the word "Brrr" across it, check this pic:

Gucci says it's all about reminding his fans how he chooses to live life, cool as ice. As in "I'm so icy, I'll make ya say Brrr"

Beastie Boys - Hot Sauce Committee Part Two

The album art and street date has been released for the new Beastie Boys album! We been waitin' a minute for this one. If you remember, they released Too Many Rappers a little while back, which in my opinion was a STELLAR track. The album art is incredible, and it is set to come out on MAY 3rd.

OMFG(ossip) - Paris Can't Have Her Cake & Eat It Too!

Dear Paris,
Happy Belated 30th Birthday!! flash: for once you, you can't have your cake and eat it too!
Source - US Weekly (2/18/11):
"A party crasher named 'Paz' swiped the star's extravagent birthday cake --- a $3,200 concoction with Lucid-brand absinthe mixed into the batter. 'Paz' bragged about the caper at length.." on his Twitter page. "I crashed Paris Hilton's Birthday Party and Accidentally the Whole Cake" he wrote..."I woke up this morning with a birthday cake in my living room," wrote Paz. "It's big. It's red. It says 'Paris'. And its fucking delicious. I don't know WTF I'm going to do with it."
(Learn about 'Paz' @ (as seen above))
"As Paz explained, a well-connected pal named 'Kevin' helped him sneak into the Hilton's VIP bash. After 'drinking-heavily' at six open bars and watching Hilton blow out the candles on her cake, Paz noticed 'not a slice of frosted deliciousness had been served'. After conspiring with 'Kevin' to steal the treat, Paz says he tricked the party's head of security and rush the 70-pound cake into his pal's Nissan Maxima."
***After doing a little more research on this story, I learned that Paz used the cake-scheme for a good cause! He brought the cake to LA's skid row. He carved out 125 tasty slices and handed it out on white paper plates to the homeless:

OMF(ail)G - LC's Show Cancelled/Paper Crown

Lauren Conrad was all set to make her TV comeback on Fiercely Fashionable until the show GOT CANCELLED! The show was not going to be similar to 'The Hills', it was supposed to be more like a documentary of her life as she juggled her book tours & fashion lines. Lauren's not the only one bummed about the show cancellation. Rumor has it, ex 'Hills' star, Whitney Port has also felt left out of tv land lately. Her show 'The City' got cancelled to make room for this LC show. Looks like both of the ladies and ex-bffs are out of tv luck as of now.
Good fashion news ahead for Lauren though! Her new fashion line "Paper Crown" is due out this fall. Here's a sneak peak thanks to

OMF(amous)G - Charlie's Lows Bring in $$

According the the Feb 28th issue of US Weekly, the show Two and a Half Men has always seemed to have benefited from Charlie Sheen's lows. If you look back to Feb 2010 -- when Charlie's car "was found at the bottom of a cliff; the show earned its best ratings in two years". Then go back to Nov 2010 -- Two and a Half Men climbs 7% "after a wild night of partying" landed Sheen in the hospital. The last example of this is Jan 2011 -- "Sheen begins rehab; the next new episode is the night's most-watched!"

Looks like the show has always made money off of Charlie's out-of-control-ways. Now, if he can just get some of that Tiger Blood on the market & start selling his drug "the Charlie Sheen drug"...then he will really be banking. Thanks for keeping us entertained Mr. Sheen!

Eric Dodd, Scotty Cram, David Bell at Smith’s - 3/12/11

This Saturday night (3/12/11), three GREAT musicians are taking over the Atlanta Room at Smith’s Olde Bar ( Eric Dodd is a native of Lake Oconee and has shared the stage many times with Grammy award winner Zac Brown. Scotty Cram lives in Atlanta and says his influences are “Motown, Soul, Rock, all wrapped into one,” and that’s exactly what his sound is. He has a great, soulful voice that grabs your attention, and his passion for his music really shows. (p.s. – He sings a wicked cover of “Man in the Mirror.” How can you not love him?) David Bell is also a local musician who will complete this great lineup.

ALSO, it’s my awesome roommate’s BIRTHDAY! Come out and celebrate with us! She’s a loyal OMFG reader, supporter, and helper. We <3 her! Presents not necessary, but free drinks greatly appreciated!

Monsieur Monsieur - Dirtyminded (Canblaster + Kolombo Remix)

Not a big fan of the original track, but the Canblaster Remix here is an incredible electro rework. Kolombo also offers a kool downbeat 2 step mix.

Bunny Lake - Army Of Lovers Remixes

Bunny Lake is a band from Vienna, produced by Christopher Just (Kitsune, Chicks On Speed). Their recent foray into pop from an electro-underground background is turning out quite well. This release from Klein Records features five excellent remixes from A.G. Trio, Designer Drugs, JBAG, Pola.riot and Seenluft. Here's the link to the record label's page for Bunny Lake, however I don't see this release there yet. Hopefully it is coming soon!

Lykke Li - Wounded Rhymes

The Swedish folk-pop gem Li Lykke Timotej Zachrisson, better known as Lykke Li has released her second album Wounded Rhymes and it is already crawling into every nook and cranny of your life. Rolling Stone magazine gave it 4 stars and a pretty sweet little review. Not that I read Rolling Stone much anymore, but that with the support from artists like Beck and Mike D of The Beastie Boys shows that she has turned a lot of heads with this one.

Get Some and I Follow Rivers are the first two tracks I've heard from this album floating around the net. Both are catchy and great for the remix thing. Youth Knows No Pain, the opening track follows the same beat as I Follow You but with a slightly darker sound from a louder drum and organ.

She definitely shows that her influences are many and her expressions cross genre. Love Out Of Lust is a slower whimsical tune that makes me think of the 8th grade dance for some reason. Unrequited Love, a folk ballad where Lykke's voice is haunting and lovely at the same time. Later on the album, Sadness Is A Blessing sounds like something straight out of the late fifties or early sixties. While, I Know Places seems like a great sad song to sing to yourself while you're on a drive to somewhere you just really don't want to go. The video I'm posting is from a live performance and the sound is horrid, but you can still get the feel from her words.

The album is out now!! Go snag yourself a copy
Limited editions available including vinyl, cd, download, and limited edition lithograph print

Also, you can visit the interactive quest site Wounded Rhymes and plot your quest around the world or you can follow Lykke's path
