Celeb sighting of epic proportions!
The faboosh Lady Gaga was in Atlanta on Tuesday this week. Why? We are still trying to get to the bottom of that, but here she was!
First she took in a braves game (gaga lovers all know how the mother monster enjoys her some baseball.) Sources say she was trying to lay pretty low; she was seated behind a rail and was trying her best to hide. She was dressed pretty demure that day: hair down, black top and black shades. No flipping off the cameras this time! She was with Taylor Kinney who played 'Uncle Mason' on the Vampire Diaries! The two have been rumored to be dating since he appeared in her video for 'You & I'. Also seen in this video are Michael Trevino (from Vamp D.) & Jenna Ushkowitz (from Glee)!:
A source also reported that Gaga made it a true Atlanta experience: Braves game followed by a rousing night at, your favorite and mine, THE CLERMONT LOUNGE! I don't know what happened there, but one can surely imagine. I'm SO angry at myself, as I was this close to heading to the Lounge after my work shift, but decided to behave instead. WHY DID I BEHAVE?! I'd like to imagine that she got herself a beer can crush from Blondie, chatted with the sweet as pie Ginger, and drank a few of those delicious long beach teas I love so much. Perhaps even some karaoke? Who knows, but keep an eye out ATLiens, it seems as though our fair city is being infiltrated by all sorts of celebrities!
send in your sightings! maybe we'll throw them out there!
xoxo

Like old Hollywood fashion? Head out to Eastside Lounge this SATURDAY!
Do you like pretty ladies, hot fashion, and good drinks? Then you simply MUST come out to the Eastside Lounge this Saturday, 7/10! My fabulous lady friend Kristen of Bella Moda Productions is putting on this show for Rene Rene designs and Miss Jay Jay hats. It is definitely going to be a beautiful night at one of East Atlanta's hottest bars (the same one where we hosted our first dance party last month!)

Slipknot Bassist Paul Gray Found Dead This Morning
According to Des Moines Register , Slipknot bassist Paul Gray (aka #2 and The Clown) was found dead this morning in a hotel room. No foul play was suspected and it seems as though he passed as result of a drug overdose.
This is the third metal musician to die just in the past almost 2 months. There have been reports that Gray had been struggling for years with drugs and alcohol. The rock'n'roll lifestyle is hard, people. Party it up, but let's be responsible!
I know, I know. A lot of people think that Slipknot are a cheesy, over the top glorified nu-metal band (yes, I have heard those exact words used by others.) However, many agree that Slipknot brought heavy, fast-driven modern metal to the masses. They catch attention with their theatrical stage shows and pretty ridiculous costumes. Maybe it IS a bit ridiculous, but it's effective! Can we say, Kiss? I've spent my fair share of money on Slipknot CDs, shows, and memorabillia in my day, and I am pleased with my investments. I remember meeting Paul when I was 18, following a show. He, Mick, and Jim were VERY friendly, funny, and I enjoyed hanging out with them (much more than some OTHER members of the band, which will remain nameless.)
Check out this video of a life performance by Slipknot, doing their song Eyeless off of their self-titled album. REST IN PEACE, PAUL GRAY!

Adios Ronnie James Dio :(
Heavy metal vocal legend, Ronnie James Dio, passed away at 7:45 this morning, reported his partner Wendy Dio via www.ronniejamesdio.com . He reportedly had been battling stomach cancer and succumbed to the disease. According to Wendy Dio, many friends and family members were able to say their goodbyes.
Though Dio's career began in 1957, he is best known for replacing Ozzy Osbourne as the lead singer in Black Sabbath, and fronting his own band, simply named Dio. He is also credited with coming up with the infamous metal horns \m/ So sad to have lost another metal megaman. Have a look at these two videos and get your head-bang on.
Here is a live video from 1983. Dio performing one of their most infamous songs, "Rainbow in the Dark"
Yeah, yeah. I may catch some flack for posting a cover video on the day the man himself passed away, but to me this is an AMAZING video. Here is the band Killswitch Engage doing a medieval themed video to their rendition of HOLY DIVER!
Rest in Peace, Ronnie James Dio, from all of the ATL metalheads.

"A Black Day for Music" Type O Negative's Peter Steele has died.
Peter Steele, frontman of the legendary metal band Type O Negative passed away last night, April 14th, from heart failure. Bandmates Josh Silver and Kenny Hickey and manager Mike Renault confirmed this news today to various media outlets. Before their statements were released most people believed rumors of his death to be a joke. Steele pulled an infamous gag in 2005 after the band was signed to SPV Records. A picture of a tombstone bearing Peter Steele's name with the dates 1962-2005 was posted on their website. Everyone was convinced he was deceased, pandemonium ensued. He was infinitely amused.
Here is a video for one of my personal favorites by Type O Negative, Black No. 1. Rest in peace to the giant, deep-voiced, morbidly humorous Peter Steele.
And of course, you can't have Type O Negative without the quintessential gothic love song, Love You To Death.

OM(usic)FG: Muse is a blast from the past.
Inspired by a Facebook-comment conversation (you know what I'm talking about) between several OMFG contribs and myself.
Muse is arguably the biggest "new" band in the world. To many they kind of came out of nowhere and conquered, but many of us know that Muse has been putting out amazing music for over 10 years. First I heard of Muse was the song"Muscle Museum" back in 1999 or 2000, off of their first album Showbiz. Though a far cry from the over-the-top electronica/metal/symphony glory that they are now, I absolutely adore this song and it is some of the first evidence of their pre-superfame days. I had forgotten about them honestly until about 4 years ago when I rediscovered them by finding an OLD mixed CD with this track on it. I immediately went on the hunt for their newer stuff, and found the albums Absolution and Black Holes and Revelations. If you love Resistance and haven't heard the aforementioned 2 albums do yourself a favor and obtain them IMMEDIATELY!
Check out Muse before they dominated the world:

OMF(ashion)G: Betsey Johnson makes me hot
Okay OMFGers...
I have an addiction I have been struggling with for the past few years, but has definitely become more prominent in the past year or so, and that addiction is to anything and everything Betsey Johnson! Who is she, you ask? Betsey Johnson is a fashion designer who has been on the scene for well over 40 years. She is mostly known for her brightly colored, adorned, often brightly colored, over-the-top fashions. Celebs love her crazy, kitschy style too! Check Rhianna and Lil’ Mama rockin’ a hot pink and black tulle number by the eclectic designer:
And check it out…this is the exciting part. ANYONE can afford to look beautiful in Betsey! And I do mean anyone. Prices in her boutiques (the two in Atlanta are in Perimeter Mall and Lenox Mall) are pretty high. Most dresses full price range in the $275-$500 area. Though lately she has been running some amazing sales! Last month I scored a coat that was $350 retail, but had been marked down several times to $120! I seriously live in that thing with this crazy cold weather. Not only that, but her jewelry, sunglasses, socks, stockings, wallets, and purses can be found at discount retailers everywhere (places like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, etc.) You can also go on auction sites (eBay, etsy) and nab some amazing deals. Among some other Betsey swag, I received a FANTASTIC pair of her sunglasses for Christmas. My parents just HAD to tell me how much they paid for them…$3. Yes. Three. American. Dollars. See, for less than the price of a value meal you can be high stylin’ in some beautiful Betsey Johnson goodies! Here is miss Betsey herself showing off some of her own designs:
Now ladies and cross-dressers, go forth, shop frugally (we are in a recession, ya know,) and be fabulous!
Xoxoxo

Jungle Love! Oh wee oh wee oh!
Hey lovelies!
It's nice to see people checking our awesome blog :) Y'all haven't met me, til now! I'm Kate, and I will be poppin' in from time to time to talk about all kinds of funky stuff.
Speaking of funky, there's been quite a bit of some old school funk bringing itself to my attention lately. Not the music itself, but the musicians themselves!
Let me explain. I was lucky enough to get to travel to the great cities of Los Angeles and San Diego last week too catch my boyfriend's band, Daath, on tour. I assumed I was in for 2 days of nothing but metal in sight. I was wrong! First person I see as I approach the LAX baggage claim? None other than this man right here:

The P-Funk mastermind himself, George Clinton! He's very impressive to look at. Fluorescent and big. We exchanged head nods and daps, not a word.
Fast forward to 4 days later I'm at work at Mellow Mushroom. I notice a gentleman with a raging Jerry Curl come in through the front door. He approached me at the bar with his son, and proceeded to order a key lime pie to go. I was thinking, "This guy looks SUPER familiar...and why do I have the sudden urge watch Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back?" He gave me his credit card to pay...the name on the card? Morris Day! Sho nuff, from Morris Day and the Time. You may know this band from the gem of a movie I just mentioned, or perhaps the award-worthy Purple Rain. He returned today with his family. I guess the Mellow just got a little more psychedelic! And for your viewing pleasure, The Time doing their most infamous song, Jungle Love!
Needless to say, I am now left sitting on my couch debating on whether to get a perm or a weave. Suggestions? Haha!
