OMFG! It’s time for 25 days of Christmas quotes!

Clark: Where do you think you're going? Nobody's leaving. Nobody's walking out on this fun, old-fashioned family Christmas. No, no. We're all in this together. This is a full-blown, four-alarm holiday emergency here. We're gonna press on, and we're gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny fucking Kaye. And when Santa squeezes his fat white ass down that chimney tonight, he's gonna find the jolliest bunch of assholes this side of the nuthouse. - CHRISTMAS VACATION

Mr. Parker: He looks like a deranged Easter Bunny.
Mother: He does not!
Mr. Parker: He does too, he looks like a pink nightmare!  - A Christmas Story

Kevin McCallister: A lovely cheese pizza, just for me.

Megan McCallister: You're not at all worried that something might happen to Kevin?

Buzz McCallister: No, for three reasons: A, I'm not that lucky. Two, we use smoke detectors and D, we live on the most boring street in the whole United States of America, where nothing even remotely dangerous will ever happen. Period.

Doris: Faith is believing when common sense tells you not to.

Kris Kringle: Oh, Christmas isn't just a day, it's a frame of mind... and that's what's been changing. That's why I'm glad I'm here, maybe I can do something about it. - Miracle on 34th Street

Clark: It's a membership to the Jelly of the Month Club.

Eddie:Clark, that's the gift that keeps on giving throughout the entire year.

Scott Calvin: Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night! When I get home, I'm getting a CAT scan!

Neil Miller: I was 3, and it was an Oscar Meyer Weenie whistle...Christmas came...noo weenie whistle. And that's when I stopped believing in Santa.

Little Elf Judy: Seeing isn't believing. Believing is seeing. .- The Santa Clause

Jack Skellington: And they call him, Sandy... Clawssss...! - The Nightmare before Christmas

Jack Skellington: Eureka! This year, Christmas will be - OURS!

Grinch: It came without ribbons! It came without tags! It came without packages, boxes, or bags!

Narrator: He puzzled and puzzled till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before! Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas... perhaps... means a little bit more! - How the Grinch Stole Christmas

"Kevin McCallister: Buzz! Your girlfriend! Woof!"

"Kevin McCallister: Keep the change ya filthy animal!" - Home Alone

Ralphie: No! No! I want an Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range Model Air Rifle!
Santa Claus: You'll shoot your eye out, kid." - A Christmas Story

"Clark: Can I refill your eggnog for you? Get you something to eat? Drive you out to the middle of nowhere and leave you for dead?
Eddie: Naw, I'm doing just fine, Clark." - Christmas Vacation

“SANTA! OH MY GOD! SANTA'S COMING! I KNOW HIM! I KNOW HIM!" - Elf

I enjoy all of the Christmas movies that play this time of year. So, I will have quotes up to keep everyone in the Christmas spirit. Enjoy.

OMF(undraising)G - Restore the Jersey Shore

"As the tri-state area continues to recover from Hurricane Sandy's devastation, the cast of the "Jersey Shore" is teaming up with the nonprofit organization Architecture for Humanity for "Restore the Shore," a special benefit set to air live on Thursday, November 15.
See Snooki mention the special here:

The special will ask viewers to contribute to the rebuilding and restoration of Seaside Heights, the show's famed home base. The special will gather the "Jersey Shore" cast, as well as other celebrity guests, in MTV's Times Square studio to collect donations for the newly created "Restore the Shore" fund. The fund aims to collect donations that will be used to restore the famed Seaside Heights boardwalk. Additionally, other donations will be used to help support businesses and residents in the area in the wake of the storm."

Get More: Music News

In addition to "Restore the Shore," the Red Cross has been working to provide services to those affected by the Sandy. "We're spreading a PSA right now to text 'REDCROSS' to 90999," "Shore" star Vinny Guadagnino told MTV News last week, just days after Sandy hit. "You can donate like $10, and I think if a lot of people do that it will make impacts."
Funds from this relief effort will focus on meeting people's immediate emergency needs such as shelter, food and health services. The Red Cross also helps feed emergency workers, handles inquiries from concerned family members outside the disaster area, and provides blood and blood products to victims." - MTV.com

OMFG - Fall Thoughts...

Every once in a while an OMFG reader would like for us to help them express a story, lyrics, or poem that they have written. This one is from Andre:

The September sun is licking the congregation of trees in the stream bed deep across the patch of different kinds of tiny rocks pressed together into a black river of motorized vehicles propelled on rubber. Fighting through the hydrogen and oxygen apple white clouds that filter its light from hundreds of millions of miles away onto the emerald blades of grass covered by the fantastically colored leaves that have fallen from their birthplace dangling in the sky. Veins of mahogany brown on the stems signifying their death. There are remnants of the illuminating vert life that was Spring. The fallen leaves are dressed in blood red, mixed into ripe corn yellow and finally meshing into the color of a dying fire with embers shooting across a western plateau desert at dusk in the winter air of December.
The suns’ rays gently brush the underside of the fallen leaves living cousins still suspended and dancing with the wind. The light still comes. Rushing past my clear square portal into the world that acts as a barrier to the elements….the sounds, smells, and texture of nature. Dog barking down the street. Chorus of cicadas and grasshoppers as the sky turns peach. Birds gathering food, food for their babies that cry out nestled high in the arms of an aged oak. Feel the sweet soft smell of dew from recent rain enter your nostrils. The wet cold earth forming around your feet as you walk across the yard. The trek of light now coming through the streaking pink and purple sky passes through the long strips of plastic suspended by woven strings that, with a twist of a clear hexagonal piece of plastic, can block all this warmth and beauty out. The beams of light from the soul of our existence collide and cast a shadow on the pear cut in half and left out for 8 hours colored wall one pace to my right. My fingers and pen stretch across the page as the sun progresses across the screen of the universe.
So fragile, it is all so fragile. The house of cards that is earth and its complex ecosystems, life…leads me to believe, on a smaller scale, that the more complex something is….the easier it is to destroy it. Eliminate or wear away at crucial and integral elements of society and nature. All the while being distracted constantly by a status quo that has been pre-set by some gentlemen or lady hundreds of years prior to our existence in a musty, whiskey stanched, Churchill cigar smoke filled room that only offers light from a minuscule office lamp on a bureau in the corner that catch the plumes of puffs pushed around the four walls by a slowly turning dusty fan fastened to the ceiling spreading the smoke and darkness throughout.
We follow it in order to survive and enjoy our experiences of life here on our outpost in the backwoods of our universe while at the same time destroying it…. The sunset looks beautiful tonight.

OMF(un)G! - Pretty in Pink Part Deux - Breast Cancer Event

I know, I know, it’s been QUITE some time since I’ve seen your pretty faces! I’ve missed y’all! I have come out of hiding to tell you fine ATLiens about a VERY exciting event I, Kate, am helping out with! As most of you know, I’m sure, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Our friend Kristen (aka Bella Moda, Atlanta’s girl for all things fashion) has organized this fundraiser at Tongue and Groove to raise money to benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (www.bcrfcure.org.) Featured will be my wonderful lady love Jenny’s line Two Tart (http://www.etsy.com/shop/twotart) along with some other talented local jewelry and clothing designers (check out the flyer!) This will be taking place on October 18th from 7pm-10pm. There will be drink specials, a raffle, trunk shows, pretty ladies, and more! All proceeds made from this event (and all donations received) will be going directly to the BCRF. Talk about a fun way to do your part! I can’t wait to see you lovelies there! I’ll be doing a little bit of everything: selling raffle tickets, working the door, possibly even getting into some fashions and hitting the catwalk!

RSVP to the event on Facebook!

O(h!)MFG - Guy Fakes Being Famous

socialmediaobservatory.com
"The video opens with Cohen wandering around Times Square during the day in a T-shirt and gym shorts, looking like a regular Joe. 'My whole life, I've always wondered what it would be like to be famous,'  Cohen muses in a voiceover. He found out later after strolling out of Rockefeller Center with slicked-up tresses, faux-glam shades and a fresh tan, along with two bodyguards and several planted shutterbugs snapping away."

OMF(ilming)G - The Internship Filming at GA Tech

They are filming the movie 'The Internship' in a few different places on the GA Tech Campus in Atlanta! They have converted the Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons into a fake Google office building. This is where Owen Wilson & Vince Vaughn will be working as interns in the movie. They even turned the Starbucks inside into a Google Starbucks.

They are also filming outside on the campus green by that building as well. I got to watch Owen Wilson & Vince Vaughn film a scene outside where they are riding on Google (primary colored) bikes.
They have also built this large rock garden outside by the Klaus Advanced Computing Building. I met Owen Wilson near this location last week. I was watching them film and ran into him by the restrooms!
Here's a shot of Vince Vaughn on the set. Owen & Vince have been seen out at Miller Union, Smith's Olde Bar, Ecco, & The Optimist. Let us know if you have any sightings to report!

OMF(amous)G - Celebrity Sighting in ATL

Attn: ATLANTA! If you happen to see a pretty pregnant woman walking around Atlanta in this heat today you might think a couple of things: #1- Is this person insane to be walking around in 106 degree weather while pregnant? #2- Why would this person have all these people around them? #3-Wait.....is that Reese Witherspoon?!
Yes, it is! Welcome to Atlanta, Reese!

The courthouse is located at 135 West Cherokee Avenue, Cartersville 30120 (via OLV). The movie also stars Colin Firth. OM(usic)FG - Black Star

Just the other day, I was complaining to someone that I miss REAL hip-hop and rap. None of the current artists were impressing me, and I honestly felt like it was a bunch of wannabes just trying to make a quick buck.  They only rapped about hos and sh**t, and that doesn't impress me.  What happened to the real lyricists like Tupac, Dr. Dre (please come back), etc.??

THEN, I discovered Black Star. I'm upset I hadn't known about them sooner.  Black Star is made up of 2 hip hop greats, Talib Kweli and Mos Def (now Yasiin Bey).  The duo originally came about in the early 1990s from the underground alternative rap movement.  The helped shape the genre and even released a 1998 album called "Mos Def & Talib Kweli are Black Star."  Each artist went on to have successful solo careers, and gained much recognition.  A second Black Star alubm had been rumored for years, and finally on October 5, 2011, they performed their new single "Fix Up" on the Colbert Report.

Black Star recently played Bonaroo, and I'm completely jealous of anyone who was able to witness this.  Hopefully a new album will follow. These guys know what they're doing.  Talib and Yasiin, keep on keepin' on. I love it.

The Daniels Brothers Band, GWC, and Crane this Saturday!

This Saturday night (June 30) at Sweetwater Live in Duluth, the biggest party of the summer is about to go down.  What do you get when you mix 3 of Atlanta's favorite local bands? A big freakin' throwdown! The Daniels Brothers BandCrane are all on the line up and I cannot wait!

The Daniels Brothers Band will be releasing their highly anticipated EP at this show, and in case you missed them on Armada FM yesterday, just be prepared for some blow your mind good music!!  They worked with Atlanta's super star producer Mike Froedge and what they have created is nothing short of genius. The band is super excited to finally release their EP, and it's guaranteed to be a great show. Put on your dancing shoes!  It will be a full band show, and for those of you who haven't seen them with a full band, you're missing out.  They will have 20 free EPs to give out to the first 20 people through the doors, so GET THERE EARLY! After those 20 are gone, EPs are only $5, so grab one while you can!

GWC always puts on a great live show. Since it's a hometown show for them, their fans will be out in full force! These guys have been a band since they were in high school & have grown so much musically.  GWC was recently nominated for Best Rock Band at the Georgia Music Awards, and the guys really enjoyed that experience.  They have been working on some new material and are excited about hitting the road with their new tunes. We'll surely hear some of these Saturday!

Crane is an Atlanta favorite and they have been touring all over the Southeast. Lead singer Anthony has a soulful voice and the band pulls influences from many different genres such as southern rock, blues, hip hop and funk.  The band is currently working on a new record and will hopefully be releasing songs this summer.

It's an incredible line up and you won't want to miss any of these bands.  The show is guaranteed to rock your face, and it will be packed out!!  Doors at 8:00, $5 for 21+, $10 for 18-20.  Come have a beer or 2 or 3 with me!

ROCK ON!

OM(ovies)FG - Savages

Movie goers are in for a treat on July 6th when Oliver Stone's Savages makes its debut to the big screen. It's sure to be an action-packed Mexican drug lord thriller. Via IMDB the plot is simple but intriguing: "Pot growers Ben and Chon face off against the Mexican drug cartel who kidnapped their shared girlfriend." Check out the trailer:
The cast includes some heavy hitters like John Travolta, Salma Hayek, & Benicio Del Toro. Two of the lesser-known main characters are played by Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass) & Taylor Kitsch (of Friday Night Lights & Battleship).
The person that I am also very excited to see is Blake Lively. Being a huge fan of hers, it's always nice to see her in rougher roles than her everyday appearance as Serena van der Woodsen on the CW's Gossip Girl (I'm thinking back to her rougher role in The Town.) Here is an Access Hollywood interview with Blake and Salma where they talk about how the 2 female characters that they play are actually the strongest characters in the film. This is one sexy way to show girl power:
