Robot Disaster - The New Campaign for More Sound

The epic B-Side to Robot Disaster's forthcoming single 'Electric Shocks'. By epic, I mean: "takes you on a high energy, quick-fire stomp through a semi-fictional landscape of sound waves (and sound monsters)". Yeah. They also have a "Live & Direct" EP coming out soon.

Rektchordz - Speaker Bump

Another huge banger track here. U&A's tech-funk prodigy Rektchordz comes full force with this remix package on his track 'Speaker Bump'. My fave is defintely Vaski's dubstep remix. Massive, grimey but slick. Great collab.  Peep Rektchordz own 30 min mix then drop by beatport and show some love!

***UPDATE*** Kristin Cavallari has a little problem with the nose candy.

****UPDATE 4/30/10******
According to sources:
"Kristin Cavallari is apparently partying up a storm, and despite denying allegations that she's deep into cocaine, insiders claim they witnessed the the reality star snorting up a storm at Coachella - right before she hijacked a golfcart with Jason Statham!

"They got pulled over by the cops and were told to go home. She was drinking and partying. I saw her do a line of cocaine. The dudes she hangs out with are all party promoters — and they’re party animals. She's been sucked into the Hollywood scene. She's surrounded by the leeches who enable her."

"The Hills star Kristin Cavallari has bigger problems than terrible choices in men. She raised eyebrows for all the wrong reasons during Super Bowl weekend in Miami.
"She was wasted the entire time," a source says, and we're not talking about margaritas. "She was going around to everyone, asking them to score her some coke."
Cavallari's lawyer refutes these Us Weekly allegations, but those close to the party girl 23-year-old say those Super Bowl antics are not only true, but typical.
"Her issues are becoming apparent to everyone," an insider reveals. "She's doing coke, getting scary-thin and not showering regularly... She's clearly unhealthy.""

Doesn't everyone in Hollywood have some kind of drug problem?

Elite Force Vs The Gossip

Another sweet electro track from Elite Force. This time he's taken his track 'Engine' and "revamped" it with vocal from The Gossip's Beth Ditto. Many of the breakbeat and electronica enthusiasts will also recognize the little snippet he used from Mr. Ozio on this one as well. Grab this one by submitting your email on the widget below. No worries, he won't spam you afterward.

Black Diamond Bay - Worship The Sun

A truly awesome electro-folk outfit from 'Leeds via Lithuania' who go by the name of Black Diamond Bay sent us the B side of thier latest release "Worship The Sun". The A side is an awesome song and they even have a pair of videos to go with it. Too bad I can't post them here, but you can jump over to youtube and check them both out. The first has live video of the band and touring footage then the second is more of a kool cartoon music video. The B side, "Cold" is just as good and luckily for you and me, they let us give it away here free!

The story of Black Diamond Bay is certainly an interesting one. If you've kept up with my posts, you've seen a couple from Pitch Twit who is Tom Sidebottom. Well it seems that Tom met up with his friends in Black Diamond Bay during a very strange trip somewhere out near Vegas. I highly encourage you to check out the whole story on thier myspace. Anyway, I'm highly impressed with the music they're putting out and hope that much more is to come!  Thanks Tom and thanks Jake @ Exceptional Records for recently signing them!

Pick up the whole EP with the Animaltek remix and another original Meesha track on beatport. Now, sit back and enjoy.

Sixx and Von D back together??

Reported: 04/10/2010

"TV tattoo artist KAT VON D is adamant her romance with MOTLEY CRUE rocker NIKKI SIXX is back on again - two months after they announced their split.

The musician began dating the reality show star in 2007, following Von D's divorce from fellow tattooist Oliver Peck.

The couple went their separate ways in January (10), with Sixx releasing a statement to confirm the end of the love affair.

Von D was recently rumored to have landed a new boyfriend after she was photographed with Bam Margera, but she has taken to the internet to dismiss reports she's dating the Jackass star - insisting she is still involved with Sixx.

In a post on her Twitter.com page, Von D writes, "So annoyed! Contrary to silly rumors, Bam Margera and I are NOT dating. I'm currently in a relationship with Nikki. Hope that clears things up.""

I think they are really good for each other.

B.R.U.C.E. - The Wallet

"Billionaire Playboys Tony and Yayo (the voice of Le Le's smashhit Breakfast), sick of their lavish lifestyles, decide to take it to the streets. Two gentleman burglars, creepin' up on the partypeople. Gangstahouse for you and yours. Hit the deck, and remember, they up early in the morning, put the dope in the blender, turn their swag on they'll be gone to November."

Below I've got the original plus one of two huge remixes that came with this release. TWR72 is more commonly known as The Walk & Roger72, a pair whose sound is rooted in French house but their production talents are expending and they are rising quickly on the blogs. Their debut release will follow this on the Instant Replay label.

100 Monkeys invade Atlanta - 4/26/10 The Earl

Picture from myspace.com/these100monkeys

Watch out Atlanta! Here comes 100 Monkeys!

Ben Graupner (Ben G.), Ben Johnson (Ben J.), Jackson Rathbone (J. Action), Jerad Anderson (J. Rad), and Uncle Larry (Uncle) are coming all the way from Los Angeles to show Atlanta what they’re made of. Come out Monday to The Earl in East Atlanta to show these guys how awesome Atlanta is.

They bring a play list that has a great combination of slow and fast alt rock songs with a gritty Doors-like sound. Need an updated comparison? Take a little flavor from Spoon, Arctic Monkeys, Neutral Milk Hotel, and The Strokes, mix it all together, and you’ve got the unique sound of 100 Monkeys. (And yes, I know Neutral Milk Hotel isn’t really THAT recent.)

They released their first studio album “Grape” in November 2009 with an amazing 12 tracks. Some of my favorites so far are “Clippity Clop,” “Orson Brawl,” and “Sleeping Giants” (see video below).  You can listen to a lot of their songs on their website http://www.100monkeysmusic.com/

One of their older songs I like that isn’t on this album is “Ugly Girl.” (see hilarious video below)

Oh, does that one guy look familiar? Yeah, IF you recognized him without the curly blonde hair, it’s Jasper from the Twilight series. Even if you aren’t a Twilight fan, you have to come out Monday because I know you already love the music and personality of this awesome band!

Doors are at 8:30PM, tickets are $13 adv/$15 at the door, and it’s a 21+ show, so you don’t have to worry about squealing 15 year old “Twi-hards.” You can stand up there and say “J. Action, I appreciate you because of your awesome music, not because you sparkle.”

Also on the bill is Atlanta’s own Noel Stephen & the Darlings. You can check them out on Myspace at http://www.myspace.com/noelstephen

Get all the juicy info on The Earl at http://www.badearl.com/

Hope to see you there!

Chem Bros go Further

Ya, not much of a 'video' but the beauty of new Chemical Brothers music more than makes up for it. I'm guessing this image is just a teaser of the film which supposed to accompany each of the tracks on the new album. They've enlisted long time visual collaborator, Adam Smith (who has been responsible for creating the visual backdrop for every Chem Bros gig since their live debut in 1994) as well as Marcus Lyall to plan visuals for each song as the record progresses. Due out in June of 2010, 'Further' will not feature collaborations with other artists (like Chem Bros friend, Beth Orton) but will be 8 tracks of original music from Ed & Tom.

The band's four shows running from the 20th - 23rd May at the Roundhouse (which sold out in record time) and gigs at Sonar Festival and selected festivals in Europe will see the band play the album and Smith and Lyall's new films in their entirety. These will only be seen in sequence at those gigs. The Roundhouse shows will be the first chance to hear the album anywhere. After the gigs, the films will feature on a special edition DVD release and on iTunes LP.

Ingram Hill @ Smith's Olde Bar - 4/21

While working towards the release of their 4th full length album, Ingram Hill is hitting ATL for a show at Smith's Olde Bar on Wednesday (4/21).  The band hails from Memphis, TN, but have toured all over the US and have shared the stage with many great bands such as Sister Hazel, Hanson (oh yeah!), Better Than Ezra, Stroke 9, Jonny Lang, Gavin DeGraw, Jason Mraz, Maroon 5, Cowboy Mouth, and many more!

Lead singer Justin Moore (no, not the country singer) describes the band as "pop rock with a Southern twist."  The lyrics are not raucous/raunchy like typical "Southern rock" songs, but the music and live show are definitely entertaining!  The band has come a long way since the release of their debut EP in 2002 and are really looking forward to their 2010 album release.

Come out tomorrow night to hear some songs from their new cd and just have a toe tappin', booty shakin' good time! I've been seeing these guys for a little over 8 years now, and I have had a blast at every single show I have been to!  EARLY SHOW! Doors are at 8PM, tickets are $12 adv/$15 at door, and of course Smith's is a 21+ venue.  We hope to see you there!

OMFG(uest Contrib) - International Pillow Fight Day!

I'm at a loss where to begin with international pillow fight day. Wikipedia says it's orgins date back to the days of old, back in March of 2008.  Times were different then.  Hipsters wore deep v neck shirts, sported mustaches, and rode fixed gear bikes.  Ok, so maybe times weren't that different, but we were coming out of the Bush era.
It's safe to say, we had a lot of steam to blow off.  The pillow fight started as an international flash mob.  If you're not familiar with this term, it's basically a chain letter, which, if you're still confused, is that crap all your coworkers send you and ask you to send out to all your friends.  Failure to pass along letter would result in a lowered sperm count, and increased likelyhood that you'll be the one car the cops pull over for speeding.  Flash mobs kept up the idea of "pass it along!" but left off the voodoo curse, and simply asked the recipient to perform some action.  In this case, the request read "Freedom Park, 3pm, April 3rd.  Bring a Pillow."
People met, the countdown began, and like all good flash mobs, a lack of organization screwed us all up.  Atlanta, always over eager, started 30 seconds early.  We'll consider this as a sign of our sheer awesomeness and lack of conformity, and ignore the fact that most southerners (myself included) cannot handle counting down from 40
seconds while under the influence of pillows.  Around 300 people showed up, keeping the fight going for around an hour and a half. Some people dressed up, and were promptly singled out and sacked. Michael Myers made an appearance, and through some cruel joke, he transformed into a sort of pied pipper.  A string of children would
follow and flog him wherever he walked.  There were fewer down pillows this year, which I blame on the recession. However, there were many people chicken fighting with a disregard to self injury that I can only imagine is due to our new national health care plan.  Most people were just content swinging pillows, laughing, yelling, and smiling.
Proof, once again, that all you need to do to cheer someone up is to take an adult and remind them that what they did as a kid actually kicked ass.

"A Black Day for Music" Type O Negative's Peter Steele has died.

Peter Steele, frontman of the legendary metal band Type O Negative passed away last night, April 14th, from heart failure. Bandmates Josh Silver and Kenny Hickey and manager Mike Renault confirmed this news today to various media outlets. Before their statements were released most people believed rumors of his death to be a joke. Steele pulled an infamous gag in 2005 after the band was signed to SPV Records. A picture of a tombstone bearing Peter Steele's name with the dates 1962-2005 was posted on their website. Everyone was convinced he was deceased, pandemonium ensued. He was infinitely amused.
Here is a video for one of my personal favorites by Type O Negative, Black No. 1. Rest in peace to the giant, deep-voiced, morbidly humorous Peter Steele.

And of course, you can't have Type O Negative without the quintessential gothic love song, Love You To Death.

Dodekapus: Collective Consciousness 04/09/10

The Dodekapus launch party in downtown Atlanta Friday night turned out to be a euphoric gathering beyond anyone's expectations.  The theme of the party was a complete 5-sensory immersion into artistic communion and expression: free freshly cooked vegan dishes, live bands, DJ Santtiago and DJ Gravey (a close friend to OMFG), full galleries of artwork, interactive paintings, live chainsaw ice sculpturing, acrobats, a lit-up elephant parade, a massive acoustic drum experience, and incredible vibes produced an atmosphere of collective individualism, community, self-expression, and joy. At eight hours long, the experience was marvelous and made the mere five-dollar cover a laughable drop of a donation to the recently formed non-profit organization. Dodekapus aims to build and sustain a prominent and accessible local arts culture in Atlanta. I'm optimistic! ~ Markos!

OM(usic)FG: Muse is a blast from the past.

Inspired by a Facebook-comment conversation (you know what I'm talking about) between several OMFG contribs and myself.

Muse is arguably the biggest "new" band in the world. To many they kind of came out of nowhere and conquered, but many of us know that Muse has been putting out amazing music for over 10 years. First I heard of Muse was the song"Muscle Museum" back in 1999 or 2000, off of their first album Showbiz. Though a far cry from the over-the-top electronica/metal/symphony glory that they are now, I absolutely adore this song and it is some of the first evidence of their pre-superfame days. I had forgotten about them honestly until about 4 years ago when I rediscovered them by finding an OLD mixed CD with this track on it. I immediately went on the hunt for their newer stuff, and found the albums Absolution and Black Holes and Revelations. If you love Resistance and haven't heard the aforementioned 2 albums do yourself a favor and obtain them IMMEDIATELY!

Check out Muse before they dominated the world:

OMFG(ossip) - Celeb Couple Splits

BoOo!!! This one is a total bummer. Most of the time when you hear about celebrity couples breaking up, you might think "Oh, I predicted that one!" or "Go figure, it's Hollywood". But once in a blue moon one really is kinda shocking. Well, here's the first one this year I didn't see coming: Jim Carey and Jenny McCarthy have recently announced their split.
(pic: Jenny gallery)
"I'm so grateful for the years Jim and I shared together," McCarthy, 37, tells Us in a statement. "I will continue to be in his daughter's life and will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart."----This simply sux, I thought they were so cute!

OMFG - He Said/She Said - Dance Party or a Riot?

Check out this video. What's your point of view on this? Is this a dance party or a riot?

"On Thursday, Feb. 25, about 200 people gathered at Sproul Plaza for a dance party that had been promoted on Facebook and through flyers distributed on campus....As the crowd headed onto Telegraph someone broke the window at the Subway sandwich shop, and the crowd quickly squared off against the arriving tide of police officers."

Major Lazer - Lazers Never Die

Here is the video from when Major Lazer played in Atlanta. I don't need to say much, cause the video is insane. Wish I could have been there.

Well played, Slash!

"Did Slash really wear an I'm with Coco pin on The Tonight Show last night? NBC doesn't want you to know, but it's true. When Slash was booked to perform on last night's Tonight Show, NBC surely didn't think he would show up wearing an I'm with Coco pin. But, he did. Slash went on Leno's show to proudly and somewhat brazenly show where his loyalties lay in the Late Night Wars."
