Strange Daze Music And Arts Festival 2 @ The Masquerade

"The Strange Daze Music and Arts Festival is an event with a purpose. For two days this summer, The Moon and Pluto, an Atlanta-based music-centric community, will shine a light on the dynamic musical talent in the region. In an effort to focus on originality, diversity, and substance, meticulous and extensive consideration has been granted to the applicants for this year’s festival. The breadth of Atlanta’s local musicians is outstanding, and though accommodations couldn’t be met for all the deserving talent, Strange Daze delivers on presenting an eclectic mix of near 40 of the most impressive artists within the melting pot of progressive, punk, experimental, reggae, folk, country, electronic, dance, acoustic, steampunk, and indie rock.

Strange Daze is not only an opportunity for musicians and fans to gather together, but also a means for various promotional opportunities for the bands involved. With a vigorous purpose to bring attention to the inspiring and non-compromising musicians in the vast sea of Atlanta music, The Moon and Pluto has partnered up with several music news sponsors, including Performer Magazine, The Silver Tongue, BeAtlanta, Target Audience Magazine, and MadeLoud.com. These sponsors are supporting our efforts to bring recognition to these musical entities by including the Strange Daze bands in their publications as featured artists, providing exposure in the way of album or show reviews, and promoting the festival before its arrival. Wax N’ Facts Record Store in Atlanta’s Little 5 Points is also contributing by displaying the albums of the Strange Daze bands on their countertop in the weeks before the festival, giving the locals a chance to browse and listen to the Strange Daze line-up!

Incorporating the fine art of aspiring Atlanta artists, Strange Daze attempts to accentuate the inevitable cross-inspiration between the sonic and visual arts. Multiple artists with a variety of media, including paintings, jewelry, photography, and drawings will be setting up throughout the venue, making their work available for display and purchase. Artful surprises are in the works and will be announced in the coming weeks.  Picaflor Studios is the new official art sponsor of Strange Daze and will be helping recruit and organize the artists for the festival. Picaflor is an impressive DIY art gallery that also functions as a music venue by night. Their philosophy is inextricable from the one behind the Strange Festival, whereby focus on the collective and supporting the people involved in the vast creative scene in Atlanta will help it blossom.

Strange Daze will take place at The Masquerade on August 14, 15 utilizing two stages in Purgatory and Hell. Food vendors will be available on-site and tickets for the event will be available through TicketMaster or The Masquerade Box Office starting April 30. $10/day or $15/2-day pass. Saturday, August 14 3pm- 2am, Sunday, August 15 3pm-midnight."
