Last Sunday night I had the opportunity to go see Against Me! the rough around the edges punk-rock band play at the Masquerade here in Atlanta. Yet no matter how thrilling Against Me! is the real treat was their opener Fences. Fences is singer Christopher Mansfield of Seattle, with his melancholy melodies, and guitar strumming, accompanied by a three piece band. These guys are re-inspiring the grunge city as well as showing the rest of the country that the music scene is certainly not dead in the northwest. I highly recommend their self titled CD co-recorded by Sara Quin of Tegan and Sara, this in depth interview, and these videos.

(Check out this video of them from GIVESEATLE.ORG, of course I'm a sucker for the Victorian-style setting, stand up bass, and bango, but this song is incredible as well, on the record Sara Quin sings.)
(OFFICIAL VIDEO for their song Girl's With Accents *EXPLICIT LYRICS FYI*)
