OMF(ashion)G - Fantasy Factory Fashion

One of my favorite shows on MTV is Fantasy Factory:
Now two stars of the show, Chanel & Drama, have fashion lines out.

Chanel's line is called Valleywood.
It includes tees, v-necks, tanks, and hoodies.

Here is a video from a photo shoot she did:
You can also check out her music on her myspace page. http://www.myspace.com/chanelwestcoast
I recommend 'Ice Cream Paint Job Remix' & Mark digs 'Get Ya Drink On'.

Drama's clothing line is available @ Pac Sun & it is called Young & Reckless.
Check out this site for info on Five Four Denim who helped create the line: http://www.fivefourclothing.com/
They seem to have quite the celebrity following..pretty rad.
And also go to:

OMFG - NO H8 Cause

I wanted to make you all aware of campaign that has started out in California. It is called the NO H8 Campaign: No Hate...Just Love---"On November 4th, 2008, Proposition 8 passed, amending the state Constitution to ban same-sex marriage.

In the wake of the defeat, there has been a groundswell of initiative from within the community at a grassroots level. Seizing this opportunity, new political and protest organizations are forming almost daily. The NO H8 Campaign is a photo project and silent protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska (http://www.bouska.net) and partner Jeff Parshley in direct response to the passage of Proposition 8.

The campaign started with portraits of everyday Californians who support Marriage Equality and soon rose to celebrities, military personnel, brothers and sisters, law enforcement, lesbian mothers, directors, politicians, newlyweds, and more. Photos feature subjects with duct tape over their mouths symbolizing their voices not being heard and "NO H8" painted on one cheek in protest.

The images are being used now for viral/grassroots on Facebook.com and other social sites. Eventually they are expected to be compiled for a billboard campaign as well as multiple magazine spreads. We are currently a Non-Profit Organization seeking 501(c)(3) status. All donations will be used to provide tools to educate the community."

OMF(ilm)G - The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus Trailer!!

It's out people...enjoy!

Here is a short plot summary from IMDB.com:

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is a fantastical morality tale, set in the present day. It tells the story of Dr Parnassus and his extraordinary 'Imaginarium', a travelling show where members of the audience get an irresistible opportunity to choose between light and joy or darkness and gloom. Blessed with the extraordinary gift of guiding the imaginations of others, Dr Parnassus is cursed with a dark secret. Long ago he made a bet with the devil, Mr Nick, in which he won immortality. Many centuries later, on meeting his one true love, Dr Parnassus made another deal with the devil, trading his immortality for youth, on condition that when his first-born reached its 16th birthday he or she would become the property of Mr Nick. Valentina is now rapidly approaching this 'coming of age' milestone and Dr Parnassus is desperate to protect her from her impending fate. Mr Nick arrives to collect but, always keen to make a bet, renegotiates the wager. Now the winner of Valentina will be determined by whoever seduces the first five souls. Enlisting a series of wild, comical and compelling characters in his journey, Dr Parnassus promises his daughter's hand in marriage to the man that helps him win. In this captivating, explosive and wonderfully imaginative race against time, Dr Parnassus must fight to save his daughter in a never-ending landscape of surreal obstacles - and undo the mistakes of his past once and for all...

Sea Light: Selected ‘6 to ‘9

Sea Light: Selected ‘6 to ‘9
An Abstract Coherency of Poems, Short Stories, and Essays.

Hello everyone! {Ahem ahem} I must say it’s an honor to be able to contribute to OMFG where many of the amazing blogs discuss celebrity excitement and other such renowned entertainments of the mass media. While I’m clearly not famous as such, I am, in fact, very famous in my own head, and in some other heads too, like my dear mother’s. So when Stephanie the Magnificent offered me the opportunity to blog about my recently self published book, “Sea Light: Selected ‘6 to ‘9,” I must admit, I clicked my flamboyantly heterosexual heals and danced for joy. OMFG keeps us gloriously distracted thrill-seeking art-trash junkies connected cerebrally, as well as physically, in our ATL youngster community. So it’s Open, wide open, like an all night dance party on the cosmic edge of free market capitalism (I too am unsure what that really means but I believe it’s something great). It’s genre crossing: local electro to pop icons. It’s not just music and it’s not just fame. It’s also personal, indeed, from thence the expressions derive! So yadda yadda yadda... Oh my fucking God, you get the point and it’s time I got there too.

In the way described above, my book is kind of like this blog site. It’s whatever I wanted it to be and, even much more realistically, it’s whatever you want it to be. Having obtained an English degree from UGA, it’s obvious that I’ve always wanted to be a writer. The tough part is that the anxiety of influence (the writings of the past) are so powerful and strong that so much has already been done before (I mean I’m not Shakespeare for God’s sake). So I’ve discovered that my goal is to make reading more interactive. I hope to someday write a book composed entirely of found text where every sentence can hyperlink to a movie or book or song from where the writing came from (copyright issues!). For now, I’ve written Sea Light, which is, in material form, quite simply, a book.

The book is kind of like a comic book (or a graphic novella to be more pedantic) devoid of any illustrations (although I wouldn’t mind changing that. Any artists out there?). Like a comic book, each page is meant to appeal to your visual sense and so each writing is brief and, I hope, quick to the punch (product of our culture, right?). Each writing is entirely unique and different in form and style. Some pieces are short stories, some are free verse poems, some are entirely found text, some are essays, etc etc. What they all have in common is that they are all mostly works of fictional storytelling and they all attempt to illustrate some point about human nature, which nothing to me can be more fascinating. While all the pieces in the book are entirely disparate, they are also all carefully unified and connected (kind of like OMFG, the internet, humanity, the universe), and thus holistic. Each piece tells a story and all the pieces together tell a greater story. The story is about the outside of up from below and in between throughout.

The central theme of human nature in Sea Light is how paradoxes and opposites compliment, complete, and bring each other into existence thereby forming a third being. There is sea. There is light. Together there is Sea Light. Yes, it sounds cheesy and it is (so what? havarti is one of the tastiest foods ever). It’s also the fundamental nature of our existence, which becomes more and more mysterious the deeper one gets beneath that pasteurized surface. All of writing, and all art for that matter, is a struggle and balance between narcissism and altruism. So my voice is very present throughout the writing and completely hidden at other times. Again, the goal of the book is for the reader’s voice to take over, for the listener to speak, and for someone else to finish my sentence.

On that note, I attempt to send my book out to the masses, for even if one person reads, really reads, Sea Light, even if I never know of it, then my gratitude be released! The link below gives a few sample pages, and the option to download it for 5 or order it for 10. Often, I have copies for sell in person for 12. (I’m not exactly making the yacht club on this one people!) So go ahead, inflate the ego of a middle class urban white guy in America just a little bit more, put on your reading goggles, and take a nice deep meander through a place called Sea Light.

SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY’S GREEN CONCERT SATURDAY NIGHT IN ATLANTA’S PIEDMONT PARK

Opening with “Drive my Car” Paul McCartney set up what was to be a memorable night at Piedmont Park. At two-and-a-half hours, McCartney’s energetic set was roughly 120 minutes longer than the 30-minute concert he did as a Beatle at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium nearly 44 years on Aug. 18, 1965. The 40,000 in the crowd was also larger than 1965’s estimated 34,000.The only song repeated from that original set list? The Beatles classic “I’m Down.”

In between songs, the 67-year old charmed the crowd with stories about Jimmy Hendrix learning “Sgt. Pepper” two days after it was released and how the Beatles could never hear themselves when they were playing because “all the girls were screaming,” so all the females in the audience took the hint and screamed away.

“Like that!” McCartney said grinning. “The difference now? We’ve got bigger amps!”

As he launched into “Blackbird,” it was then as Paul began to sing, a 20 minute downpour started. The mood of the crowd would not be dampened and everyone gladly sang along to everything from “Got to Get You Into My Life” to “Eleanor Rigby.” Paul spoke to the crowd by saying “The rain is really coming down, huh? I suppose it’s a nice cool down. We’ll keep on rocking through it.”

At one point during the show, Paul McCartney dedicated "My Love" to his late wife Linda and "all the lovers here tonight." This song is a new favorite of mine. Paul has a magical way of reaching out to his fans and connecting. He also lovingly paid tribute to his fallen band mates George Harrison and John Lennon during the concert. He opened Harrison’s classic “Something” playing a ukulele that Harrison had given him. He also riffed on Lennon’s famous anti war anthem “Give Peace a Chance” as the crowd sang along and flashed peace signs that were transmitted throughout the park via 50-foot video screens. McCartney also pulled out the acoustic guitar to perform “Here Today,” the heartbreaking tribute he wrote for Lennon in the wake of his 1980 assassination. He shared that you often don’t get to tell people how you feel when they are here. He wrote the song for John to help himself get through the pain of his former band members death.

The Beatle closed the evening with the finale “The End” from “Abbey Road,” the band’s final studio recording together with these words: “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.”

Hands down this was a truly astonishing show. With an amazing set list and venue, I will never forget my night with Sir Paul McCartney.

OMF(ilm)G - Scream 4, 5, & 6

It has been confirmed that writer, Kevin Williamson, is putting together his screen play for Scream 4. BUT, not only is he putting together Scream 4, he is also creating a second thrill-ogy. That's right, he is writing Scream 4, 5, & 6. As of now, the only two stars that are set to return to their roles are Courteney Cox & David Arquette (who will be coming back as Gale Weathers & Dewey.) Wes Craven has yet to confirm that he will be directing and has stated that he is waiting to read the screen plays first. He appears to want to make sure that the scripts are up to quality of Scream 1.

I still remember the opening night, in 1996, of the first Scream film. Oh what fuN!

So, go ahead and leave your comments below. I wanna know who you would like to see cast in the new Scream Thrill-ogies??? I say, Drew Barrymore should come back from the dead.......ahh!!!

The Modern Society moves Athens!

Hi everyone! This is Mo signing on for my first post. I'm here to bring you the latest & greatest of concerts I go to and also to share other random music tidbits you might like. Now on to the show!

Recently I took a road trip with a good friend to Athens, GA to catch up with our long-time favorites, The Modern Society (aka MoSo). Woody, Tyler, Chris, and Thomas are some of the nicest guys & I love that they each have their own style. But they have that cohesive band look when they're all together.

The venue was the Caledonia Lounge (basically the basement of the adjacent store), small, hot, and only has 2 bathrooms. Outside it was raining off and on (Yuck!!), BUT when The Modern Society stepped on stage, I forgot about all of that. I was in my happy place. I'm addicted to Woody's voice...I admit it. My name is Mo and I'm a MoSo addict.

Their songs are catchy & even if you have never heard them, you'll be singing along in no time. With lyrics like "you always shake like you're doing it just for me," I find myself dancing even without liquid courage. These guys tour all over the U.S. and worked really hard on their latest cd "The Beat Goes On." They're constantly working on new music & usually have a new song or two every time I see them! With influences including The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, and Counting Crows, it's hard not to like MoSo.

All that said, I would highly suggest that you check out a show in your area & catch The Moso fever! New tour dates have been posted! You can find them on myspace (www.myspace.com/themodernsociety), twitter (twitter.com/themoso), and they also have a page on facebook. Check them out!

Trueblood!!

Photobucket

It's official! The Tru Blood drink has now been 'de-fictionalized' and emerges into reality as a delicious blood orange carbonated drink.
Photobucket

For those of you who watch Trueblood on HBO you will know what this is! Trueblood is the brand of Synthetic Blood that is served to the Vamps @ Merlotte's & Fangtasia!
Photobucket

Meticulously crafted, the Tru Blood Drink is an exact replica of the bottle design as seen on True Blood. The 14oz glass Tru Blood bottle is stained in a rich red, with raised Tru Blood English lettering and matching Japanese Kanji.
This blood orange flavored soda is slightly tart, lightly sweet and subtly carbonated. Designed to taste great while matching the appearance of Bill’s favorite drink, the drink pours like a regular soda, but with the standing appearance in a glass is stormy and mysterious.

This stuff is available starting September 8th on www.hbo.com , you can bet they are gonna bank on that seeing as it is $16.00 for a 4pack of this stuff!!
Photobucket

But I know I can't wait to try it, its a gotta have for Halloween!
They even have cute recipes to use Trueblood with my fav being:
The Fangbanger - Trueblood & Vodka

Yummy.
